At
the age of 19 he bought his first Harley which he loved to ride up and down the
west coast. Naomi
was a lady and would not go out with a man that rode a motorcycle so Al did what
any love struck young man would do and sold his bike and started to court Naomi.
They soon became married, moved to Honolulu, Hawaii and shortly after Al took a
job at Pearl Harbor as an electrical journeyman. He was a civilian working
for the military, living in the Pearl Harbor housing CH-A3.
Al
was a firefighter at the base and was called to duty on December 7,
1941. As Naomi was evacuated to safety, Al went to fight fires
and provided support where help was needed. For two weeks Al could
not contact or locate Naomi. |
